Has the board and Transcorp site been slow in the past week or so for anybody else?

I'm debating whether to go harass Koitsu or not about it.

I consider moving TransCorp every now and then to the server I'm hosting ROMhacking.net on, however I don't want to change the address. I've been using it for years.

Yes, the board has seemed very slow lately. I was beginning to wonder if you were about to have some big upgrades coming.

I contacted Koitsu about this. Apparently, he has throttled bandwidth back on all sub sites on parodius. This was due to too much collective bandwidth consumption with no cap in place caused mainly by Google and site leechers.

TransCorp had little to nothing to do with this according to the logs, but is still subject to these new policies. This situation will be re-evaluated after one month's time via Koitsu. However, he told me it may be a permanent thing if he sees no improvements.

One thing I have done is reconfigure the board software to utilize some bandwidth and caching tweaks. Once you go through a few board screens, you should then start to notice a speedup. I did. It's still a bit on the slow side, but much more usable.

I will keep an eye on this and follow up in a month or so. If this performance becomes permanent, I will decide what to do. I may move TransCorp to the ROMhacking.net server.

I can already tell the difference, thanks.

Oh yes, I agree wholeheartedly - that's much better.

Didn't notice it often, I admit, but it was pretty obvious with the the Big RPG List thread.

The limit was lifted again a few weeks ago. Guess I'll be staying here until the end of time afterall. ;)
