according to you, which is the best slowdown tool for dos? and what's you take on them?
i know only of these ones (i don't know if there's any)

i know of these ones: AT-Slow, Bremze, CPU Kill (v.2.0), Mo'Slo

I downloaded DOSBox which apparently can also be used to slow down programs. I haven't gotten around to that with DOSBox though.

I've recently tried Mo'Slo with Warcraft- Orcs and Humans, but apparently it's one of the complicated games out there (I mean more than the average). I'll try it again some other time- actually, I'll try it with Hero Quest instead.
ah man, i remember playing the original boardgame. Now, THAT was awesome. So, I hope the dos game is as cool.
Anyway, do any of you even play dos games??? I do... yeah, heck, yesterday I was playing Warcraft-Orcs and Humans, and I also played Princess Maker 2, as well as Dune 2.

I play DOS games! They don't make games like some of the old DOS classics anymore.  DOSBox is a wonderful tool if you take the time to learn how to use it.  I run most of my DOS based games on it without issue for the most part and I've got quite a few.

I used a few slow down tools before.  I don't remember the name of the one I used.  It's one that wasn't on your list, I can tell you that.  I'd say they probably work fiarly similar.  They either bog your processor down with dummy instructions or some other trick to slow your system down. So, I relly don't have any recommendation.

DOSBox seems to be a DOS emulator (to add the support for the games that WinXP does not support by itself. I have been told XPs builtin support of DOS is itself emulation.)
So that said, your game may or may not work at all in DOSBox. Depends on if the authors have gotten around to adding support for the originally intended hardware.

dos games are so cool, i'm glad you play them too Nightcrawler. well, some games are just bad! i mean, some are so primitive. but, there's a lot of good ones out there. actually, some even became snes games later on-- like the lost vikings or romance of the three kingdoms. i think-- although i didn't actually check the years for those dos games.

yeah, dosbox is an emulator as you said-- if you think about it, if you wanna play some games, like any other emulator, you'll need that one for dos. although i've got a huge problem with dosbox and all those things-- they take so much time (a few minutes) to start a game, unless you completely know what you're doing. i don't, i follow the instructions since i never actually used those types of programs before. but, i say i'm glad about the program called VDMSound. it's hand when playing Warcraft and Princess Maker 2.

Have you ever actually used DOSBox? It's a wonderful peice of software.  As for your game not working.. why don't you take a look at what works for yourself: DOSBox compatibility. And that list is out of date!

It fully emulates DOS to the point you can install and run Windows 3.11 on it!! (with some limitations still). They even emulate direct port writing(for parallel and serial port) which will run all that old code you have that works with the ports that won't run on windows anymore. It has support for EMS/XMS memory, and serveral other neat perks.

You guys really should learn to use it. It's not very hard. I'd say it's the future of being able to run your DOS games because each new version of windows will make it harder and harder to ever hope to run them. VDMSound may not be enough anymore in the future.  It's already not enough for some of the old games I play.

Dos games.. ah, wonderfull times *smiles* reminds me of when i was a kid.

I use Dosbox nowadays, and before that, i used mo'slo.

Oh, and does anyone know how to fix EMS/XMS suported dosmode with CDrom and mouse suport form XP/Win98? Crusader: no remorse, and crusader: no regret takes a tad bit to much for my poor computer to run it in Dosbox. Lovley games, sad thing that i cant play them :(

I haven't had complaints so far (I've used Hexposure to finish a few projects on it), just saying as a precaution.
Actually, it's a good thing. Though I admit I don't have a whole lot of DOS games to play on.
Commander Keen, and that's about it.
In some DOS abandonware site, I found Think Quick. Hey, that game was awesome back in elementary school! (a game where you go through a maze trying to find pieces of puzzle in order to open the exit. Try not to get eaten by worms bigger than you are!)
Tried a DOS port of Castlevania. With DOSBox I can get AdLib sound as well as use my USB gamepad. Without it, I'm stuck with absolutely ear-piercing PC speaker music and keyboard.
But, of course, I'd be better off just popping in the NES cart or emu.
