Just wondering if you thought of using D-Boy's etymology FAQ while doing the translation proper.

I probably bring this up because I like 'Atrushan' better then 'Atorshan'. But then, 'Fraward' isn't the most princely of names, so it evens out on that account. Well, at least you'd be historically accurate. :)

Give me a link to this FAQ.  D-boy was the one who translated the names.

Err....you can't direct link GameFAQs' FAQs.

That's why he said 'copy and paste'.

Thanks for the link.  That is a recent document.  I had no knowledge of it.  D-boy and I have not had contact in several months since his departure from the scene.

Some of the  names are going to have to be modified to some degree. Some of them look like a jumble of random letters to english speaking people.

I think he modified it.  It was a direct link before.

I e-mailed you scripts three days ago.

Aside from adamant refusal to send me a complete script dump from the game, arbitrary changing of things I spent a lot of time on just to make it "American friendly" is one of the other reasons I don't want to work with you on this anymore. I may as well send my scripts to Victor Ireland.  :'(

Just FYI, Fraward is a baron, not a prince. The only prince of Ervad is Hathram. If you need other info about the games, feel free to ask me or check if it's on my Emerald Dragon page.

Oh yeah, if you haven't played much yet, if you play one version of this game, make it the X68000 one. Far more challanging gameplay and dungeons. It also has all the great subquests knocked out of the SNES version (and the ability to ever get the Famous Sword, Garratin).

Here's a couple other good Emerald Dragon pages:
Emerald Dragon Core - lots of maps (Gamed Disc->Dungeon Guide) and some MSX pictures
Emerald Dragon maniaX - the ultimate stop for info on the PC-Engine game
There's a light in the darkness - A Glodia page with a complete graphical story guide for the PC98 game.

I just got them.  I recently moved and don't have net access at home yet.  I think I already have those.  I sent you a whole bunch of script after that which was never touched.

It wasn't refusal.  I chose to work on working out the VWF bugs
and do some menu work rather than dump the rest of the script.
Some people work for a living and have other things in life.  That compounded with doing one man projects simply makes things just happen slowly.

If changing a name or two will ruin the script that much.. fine.
Players can't connect with a character that doesn't have an intelligble name.  Out of all the characters in the game, probably only 2 would require name changing.  Remember Dragon Warrior 2 and the random name generation crap? Intelligble names makes you not give a crap about the character.

I realize they aren't intelligible in Japanese, but sometimes Japanese names come out intelligible over here.

I'm talking about a name or two.. not an entire script like Working Designs, but whatever.
