Yeah, “He-Man” was mostly a 20 minute toy commercial and watching it as an adult the stories are REALLY predictable, but it still manages to give me this Proust-like time-defying feeling of days gone by. And Your wife watched “He-Man” with You? Incredible, the woman we all dreamed of since our boyhood! Wink
“Thundercats” is outstanding for a children cartoon. Some years ago I saw all the episodes and was quite impressed how complex it all got, although that is about seven or six years ago so I am unable to remember everything in detail.
I have heard mostly good things about that special “Batman” cartoon, although I have never seen a single episode. The same goes for “GI Joe”. And that is really strange because ALL my male peers have memories of that show, which clearly means that this show was on German TV. And if one considers that I was a real “TV kid” back then this always surprises me when someone brings up “GI Joe”. This also applies to “Captain Future”. EVERYONE watched this, and I have not seen a single episode. Really strange.
“Silverhawks” I remember very fondly. It was produced by the same people who also did “Thundercats”, right? At least the style of animation seems quite similar.
Other great shows were “Saber Rider” but I do not know if it was as popular in the US as it was in Germany. “Ulysses” (or what was this cartoon called with Ulysses, his son and some small robot on a spaceship or -station?) and “Queen Millennia” (I think that's what it was called in the US) were also pretty deep. I remember rewatching “Queen Millennia” some years ago and after every episode I changed my mind about who the “bad guys” are.
I.S.T., you do not recommend “Transformers”? Hmm... I really liked watching it (but again “many years ago"). I think if one discards the knowledge that this was (like “He-Man”) a toy commercial the movie can have an incredible effect. I have never seen so many of the main characters die right at the start of a movie and literally dropping “like little flies” one after another. One decepticon shoots, an autobot you knew for the past two years went down, dead for good, just like that. And the soundtrack is amazing. “The Touch” and “Dare” are two songs I still have on my mp3-player. Wink

I always liked that first Spiderman cartoon on Fox in the mid/late 90's. Also loved Beast Wars as well, but that was more of a 3D thing.

So what's the moral of the story? Paint sprayers are evil?

I own the original movie, and watch it about... twice a year. It fares much better than the series, I've found. Then again, the series had a quality dropoff around the time the movie began production... I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

The first season of the cartoon is great, stupid fun. It's the second season when the plot holes become so common they cause mental pain.

Nightcrawler,

I was just curious if you got the operation/medical procedure to deal with your arm and wanted to see how it went.  Hope everything improves dramatically.  Take it easy and I wish you a full recovery.

I'm back in limited capacity for now. Both arms are currently being treated. The surgically repaired arm, while seeing plenty of progress, is still worse than before surgery (things get worse before they get better with surgery), so it's uncertain how successful the surgery was yet.

Looking at about 2 more months for recovery right now. In the meantime, we're trying t prevent my other arm from the same fate.

So I guess you're not looking to take on any extra projects then?

Not even if I wanted to. My condition really put the brakes any serious forward progress for most of last year and has already eaten into this one. I had a few stretches here and there where I was able to work OK, but more often than not, one or both arms were down at various times.

The good news is brighter days appear to be ahead. It's still too early to tell, but we're hoping all these issues will be behind me soon. Even if they aren't, there's not much more than could do with the arm I just had surgery on. However it turns out, it will at least be constant unlike the up/down cycles from last year each time something new was tried. But that's worse case. Near full recovery is still a possibility and the one I am of course hoping for!  Grin

I hope you are able to make a complete recovery, how do these issues with your arm affect things like driving and other typical daily tasks like cooking, taking care of pets etc?

I didn't drive at all after surgery for 3 weeks. I am driving now, but it's still painful and I can't drive a manual yet which was my primary car. Thankfully I have a wife to take up the slack with cooking, laundry, and other household tasks I can't do at times. If I lived by myself right now that would really suck. Someone would have had to come stay with me anyway. No pets or kids, so no problem there. Smiley

I'm getting close to being able to do most normal tasks now, just not without pain yet. And I'm still pretty weak. I think my wife is jealous of all the time I have to spend with my physical therapist!  Grin

Still fighting the good fight. I started driving my car again and have gained some significant strength since my last post. I'm finally at a point where I am starting to notice improvements from how I was before the surgery.

Unfortunately, my other arm has not been as fortunate. Probably getting an MRI in a couple of weeks if we don't see more improvement.

It's like a worst nightmare to repeat all this with my other arm. This thing drags on forever.
